What is the Backpacking Crew
This is the team that plans and takes on the challenge of a 50 miler. As a part of this group, you can expect to be in charge of the adventure that is taken on. This is a special sector of the troop as the scouts have all the say in what happens for every aspect of the trip. Every little detail is planned by you the scouts, everything from what trail and how to complete it to the place that we eat after we are done. All of this is something that you get to be a part of, this can make the trip whatever you want it to be. The sky is the limit for planning these trips and that is almost as good as being on the trail. Meetings are generally held every 2 weeks however this changes and will always be current above in the announcements.
How to earn your backpacking patches
There will be patches for each of the 50 milers that the troop completes, this will give everyone that completes them something that they can add to the back of their merit badge sash so that they can represent the work that they have put in. To earn these patches you need to complete a few basic requirements, that should be completed by just coming to meetings every 2 weeks.
Attend and fully complete the "50 miler" at the end of the program session (does not need to be 50 just a week long trip)
Attend at least 80% of all meetings for the program
Attend 5 or more prep trips for the program
To earn a consecutive badge must teach at least one meeting for each consecutive badge earned.
1st patch go through program as normal learning information
2nd patch teach 1 full meeting
3rd teach 2 full meetings
4th teach 3 full meetings
continue the pattern for all patches beyond this mark
